During their month-long summer residency at TAKEOVER, Modelab transformed the gallery into a mixed media genealogical garden.

The installation, made out of images, plant samples and decorative elements, proposed  the elevation of personal histories into a collective aesthetic process. Through experimental archival techniques, Modelab acknowledges family memories and identities as a celebration of present life.

Sprouting Stories is a reminder that everything originates in nature and that memory eventually becomes a part of it, and that some memory exercises are an act of resistance and an assertion of life against adversity.

Family genealogies rooted in the past extend into    the future:
